From Arkansas, we drove through Missouri and along the way we stopped at the oldest working fish hatchery.  The hatchery, in Neosho, Missouri, was cool!  It raises rainbow trout for lakes and streams all over the U.S.  It has been in operation since 1889.  In the early days, they would deliver the fish on trains.  The kids had a blast seeing thousands of fish swimming around in the pens. We had lunch there and then kept heading North.

Rainbow Trout!
Later as we were driving, we kept noticing motorcycles passing us and finally it dawned on us that it might be Sturgis time.  We looked it up and sure enough we were heading straight into the Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally!

We met some nice people traveling to Sturgis at a campground in St. Joseph, MO.  They laughed when they heard that we didn't realize it was Sturgis time.  They were traveling on their motorcycle, just the two of them and a tent.  They said they were enjoying it, but the wife's rear was beginning to hurt.  Her seat was smaller than the husband's...of course!

We decided to take a break and stop for a few days before heading on to South Dakota.  We stopped at the Offutt Air Force Base Camp near Omaha, Nebraska.  We took the kids to the local aquarium which had fish from local rivers and lakes.  It was pretty interesting!  They had some HUGE catfish too!

We also went to a tiny village for kids.  It had all kinds of fun things to do, and it was all kid size!  It was really neat, but as the heat wave was here, it was very hot!  Thank goodness they had a splash area too!

We move on tomorrow...getting closer to South Dakota...yippee!
